hreins:

When New York put its PDF archives on Google Books, my friend and I used to have a game of finding the best stories. The more dated and scandalous the better.
I started doing this again and I really liked this one about wraps from 1997. Before there was the banh mi and the porchetta and the nouveau Maine lobster roll resurgence…there was just, “the Wrap.” (New York Magazine, May 26, 1997)

Hey, I’m the friend! Still need to make my way through this little list. Relatedly, I hate wraps. Growing up my family would sometimes pick up dinner at a place called Crazy Bowls and Wraps. Ungood. Too much filling, not enough support. Bring on the bread, I say. Lots of it.
